WOYWW 186

It's that time of the week to snoop around other peoples workdesks, if you want to join in go over to the Stamping ground where you'll find out all the details.
These are a couple of pages from the art journal class with Neil Walker that I attended in the run up to Christmas that I haven't shared before, these were my favourite two pages and I want to use this technique on a few of the pages in my new Dylusions art journal that I was lucky enough to receive from my daughter at Christmas .................... guess who does all the Christmas shopping in this house! ;-)
Hope you all had a great Christmas.
I'm looking forward to playing next week whilst I'm still on holiday. We have visitors everyday this week, so not so much playing time.

I wanted to share these final Christmas cards that I made at a Craft Barn class with the lovely Helen Chilton.
We used the Lynn Perrella stamps by Paperartsy, paint, embossing powders, metal, crackle medium and distress inks.
I'm also entering the top card into the Inspiration Journal blog challenge as it has the word Joy on it.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas

WOYWW? 185 Snowflakes

I've got a bit behind with my Christmas cards this year, time flies by too quickly. So here's a quick post showing you the cards I've made so far today since getting home from work. I've still a few more to do but will try to get around a few WOYWW desks before I get going again.
If you want the details on how to join in the WOYWW and have a snoop at other peoples workdesks have a look at Julia's blog.
The background is stamped with free stamp from Craft stamper and I've used the Tim Holtz snowflake rosette dies

I had a wonderful painty, inky day with my crafting friend Francesca who is kind enough to drive me there, thanks Francesca :-)

Looking forward to class two.

12 tags December…

The final of the 12 tags for 2012, here's December. Go over to Tim's blog to see what it's all about.

I have the blueprints on my wish list, so instead I used the Sizzix snowman die and snowflake. The snowman then was embossed and inked with various distress inks, broken china distress stickles and rock candy stickles plus a bit of ribbon for his scarf. For the background of the tag I used broken china and pewter distress stains they were also swiped around the edge of the white card and ribbon that went through the tag hole. The letters that I die cut from wordplay also put through an embossing fold to give a bit more texture.

WOYWW 180 & NEC

Last weekend my crafty buddy Francesca and I went to the NEC, it was a pretty exhausting weekend mainly due to lack of sleep: firstly from the excitement the night before we left, then the very early start on Saturday morning to get there in time. Saturday was MANIC in the NEC so much so that they stopped people entering on two occasions during the day. Sunday was a much calmer day; people didn't seem so frantic and a fair nights sleep helped.

Oh my goodness me, as I was looking at top photo before uploading I realised that I hadn't included the pieces from the mini workshops plus a few more purchases:
Saturday using Pan Pastels, Graph-it pens, a shimmery medium (sorry I can't remember the name of it)
Sunday we managed to get onto two workshops firstly with Graphic 45 and lastly WOW. I'm looking forward to the weekend when I'll hopefully get a chance to play ;-)

If you want to join in or know more about WOYWW please hop over to see the lovely Julia's blog where you can find all the details.

Crumpled Kraft Suede

Crumpled Kraft Suede technique taken from
This is the theme for this weeks challenge over on Linda's blog Studio L3
Which is Sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique

I've been having a great time this afternoon making crumple Kraft Suede in all different colours, of course by the time I've got around to making this topper the light had faded so the background stamping isn't showing up. I love the effect of this technique, you just have to see it in real life to see the full beauty of it.

WOYWW 178 and Book Bound without Thread!

It's that snooping time of the week. If you want to know what it's all about go check out the details at Julia's blog the Stamping Ground.
This is the front of the book that I made at a Craft Barn class with the talented Neil Walker last Sunday. The book has a base colour of yellow and I've blended Peacock Feathers into each paper then incorporated at least one other colour into each, with different stamping on each spread. Now I had intended to completely embellishing it before blogging it but someone mentioned Christmas, I'm not saying who and I decided that I ought to put this to one side and start to make some Christmas cards. It's the thought that counts....right ;-)
Here's the spine I love the finish.
Did I mention what I clever man Neil is?

and one of the inner pages.
The image was printed out onto Transfer Artist Paper which is a great product to try.
The image that I've used was from a play session, around at the lovely Francesca's house.

Spooktacular Journal

As the witching hour gets closer I thought I really must update my blog with this Journal that is going to embrace my darker side Mwahahaha.
The theme was set by the lovely people at Inspiration Journal Blog. Go and have a look at the fabulous examples the design team have created.

I used plenty of distress inks and markers; Dylusions stamps - Bits of This and Doodle Parts; Inkessentials white pen to decorate the central panel for my journal. I finished off with some orange and red ribbon

Happy Hallowe'en
I've just spotted that this also fits the theme for Crazy Amigo Challenge too!

Crafty Cards and Tag

I had a wonderful day out at the Craft Barn yesterday. Francesca kindly drove and we had a class with the lovely Jo Firth-Young, using the new Crafty Individual dies and masks.

Close up: Bird die and mask
Green and blue Glimmer mists (sorry I can't remember the actual names) plus gold encore ink.

Close up: Bird die and corner masks (I've just realised that this card is upside-down)
Peacock Feather

Bird Die. Salty ocean and walnut stain

Birdcage die and mask - Black soot and tumble glass

Birdcage and bird dies and flower mask. Dusty Concord and black soot. Eggplant alcohol ink to colour the pearl in the flower.

We also used other dies to cut out the apertures in some of the cards; the border and also the heart shape. Plenty of distress inks and a few squirts of glimmer mist.
I was nicely surprised with how well these dies cut the intricate detail, I'll certainly be buying some to add to my collection.

WOYWW

A parcel arrived for me today at work just before I left. When I got home I cleared a space and unpacked the box. Woohoooooo it's my new to me Big Shot plus a few accessories that I won on ebay. Guess what I'll be doing for the rest of the day. ;-)
Sorry I couldn't take part last week as my internet connection went down. The previous week I showed a  tag that wasn't finished, a few of you asked to see the completed tag so here it is.

If you want to join in the fun of WOYWW go over to Julia's blog to find out all the details on how to take part in visiting fabulous blogs all around the world.

Have a happy Wednesday everyone.

Patchwork metal tag

Over at Studio L3 Linda has set the challenge for this week and it's Riveted Patchwork Metal taken from - Tim Holtz: A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2, page 57.
This weeks challenge is being sponsored by the The Funkie Junkie Boutique.
And also fits Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2012 (September)

Francesca and I had a lovely time crafting once I'd finished work this afternoon. Last week we decided that we would make whatever Linda had set for the challenge on Friday.
I had a lovely time playing with metal and alcohol inks, unfortunately due to the nature of metal being hard to photograph, the camera has not captured much of the colour from the alcohol inks.
Materials
Self adhesive metal
Alcohol inks
Grungeboard shapes and waste
Distress stains
Distress inks
TH Compass stamp
Bling

WOYWW 170

Wow is it really Wednesday already!
I'm a little late with my entry as the summer holidays are now finally over and I'm back to work, so I have nothing completed to show you. But I have been playing around with some distress inks and perfect pearls to creative a few backgrounds and I'm trying to get organised with my inks hence the inky samples in the background of my distress inks. I've been meaning to do this ever since I saw Francesca's display.
If you want to know more about WOYWW please pop over to Julia's blog, for all of the details.
OK I'm off to snoop :-)

WOYWW#169 tag

This is my first time in joining in WOWYWW
I've meant to take part before but Wednesdays just going flying by normally.
Anyway my desk for today is my dining table and this is what I've made today.

After seeing the wonderful creations that Leandra and Lin made at a workshop in Cork, I was inspired to find out more about their tutor. I found a Prima video by the extremely talented Anna DÄ…browska – PÄ™kocka  and I have tried to follow her style in this tag, I think I got a little heavy handed with the various mica mists ;-)

Forum birthday card

YAY I've managed to upload a photo!
This is a card that I made earlier in the year for a forum friend. Using Paint resist on sticky back canvas and Distress inks to create the background and a metal flower using the techniques that I learnt on an Artsycrafts weekend by Lin Brown, which I added alcohol inks and a gem brad too.

Book of Secrets

I took part on an online workshop with Andy Skinner call the Book of Secrets, obviously I can't give away any of Andy's secrets but you can check out the class for your self here.
I will say that I've not been  able to give this piece the time it's due as I've had the dreaded bug that's been doing the rounds. It's not perfect but I know why and where I went wrong. I'll be experimenting a little more to perfect the fabulous techniques that Andy taught us. Looking forward to the next class.

Workshop With Jo Firth-Young

I had a wonderful and at the Craft Barn nearly a couple of weeks ago and decorated this wooden icon with Paperartsy paints and stamps, and distress inks all under the guidance of the super talented
Jo Firth-Young.
It was great to spend the day with Francesca (who kindly took me), Alison, Gabby and Sue, it was a small but very friendly class. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Sorry for being such a slack blogger, I'm having problems getting my photos loaded on here. Wondering if anyone else is having a problem. In the end I've had to load them and transfer from a web album it's a bit long winded but worked in the end.

Workshop with Linda Elbourne

Mini Journal
Small Suitcase
Can't believe that this class was nearly two weeks ago! I had a lovely day out with Francesca at the craft Barn where we took a class with the amazing Linda Elbourne, it was a brilliant class and it was wonderful to catch up with old crafting friends.

We've got our fingers crossed that our dodgy telephone line has now been fixed so I'll be able to upload more frequently. It hasn't rained properly since the BT man came out so I'm not holding my breath.

Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 5!

Yes!!!!! - It has taken so long to get this photo to upload I nearly gave up trying tonight but I keep on missing the Compendium of Curiosities, Volume 2 challenges so thought I'd try a few more times.

Technique: Shattered Stains on page 48
Sponsored by Simon Says Stamp

I made this card for my good crafting friend Francesca, using the Shattered stains technique plus a few more that are also covered in Tim Holtz's book and on the wonderful CC101 online course.

Altered Matchbox

I took part in a matchbox swap on Facebook organised by Zuzu's Petals.
I used the small type of matchbox and painted it with black gesso all over; embossed a piece of metal foil and edged it by hand then applied alcohol ink to the top surface of the metal; heart shaped brad and the inner of the metal flower. Inside the matchbox I used glossy accents, dewdrops, pearls, glitter and a key charm.
